Yes.
No. I select the area and route 48 hours in advance, taking the weather into account. Therefore, the times are only an estimate. It is advisable to reserve the whole day for a Mystery Hike, as we often end the day with a shared dinner.
48 hours before the Mystery Hike, a WhatsApp group will be set up where further details will be discussed (train connection, equipment list, recommended clothing, etc.). For urgent questions, you are welcome to ask them in the WhatsApp group (provided they are relevant to the group). Otherwise, please send me a WhatsApp message.
Each Mystery Hike is carefully selected taking into account weather, terrain, topography, and the participants. Additionally, a shortcut or a shelter is always provided to ensure safety. In case of severe weather warnings, hikes may be canceled exceptionally. In this case, the full amount will be refunded.
If you live in Zurich, a hike from Albisgütli to the summit of Uetliberg is a good benchmark (ideally, this takes between 45 and 60 minutes – for a Moderate Mystery Hike). This corresponds to a vertical speed of 350–400 meters of altitude per hour.
No. Merciless Mystery Hikes are only suitable for very fit hikers, and you should have already participated in a Moderate Mystery Hike.
Each participant receives a detailed packing list for each Mystery Hike with information on clothing and items to bring (e.g., picnic lunch).
All Mystery Hikes are planned using public transport. Arrival by car is not desired due to long waiting times in the past and especially for environmental reasons.
